After graduating from Birmingham Medical School in 2003, Andy worked as a junior doctor
in both the UK and Australia, undertaking posts in general medicine, general surgery and
A&E.
Andy began his anaesthetic training in 2006, initially at Worcestershire Royal Hospital, and
later joined the Birmingham School of Anaesthesia registrar training rotation. During his
anaesthetic training he worked at several major hospitals in and around Birmingham.
Andy was appointed as a Consultant Anaesthetist at Russells Hall Hospital in 2013. His
clinical interests are general and regional anaesthesia for vascular surgery, plastic surgery,
obstetrics and orthopaedics. He also has specific interests in procedural sedation and total
intravenous anaesthesia.
Outside of work, Andy enjoys spending time with his family and playing the piano. He is a
keen runner, always trying to improve upon his 5km personal best.
