Expression lines such as crow’s feet and frown lines on the forehead and between the brows are caused by overactive muscle movements repeatedly creasing the skin. Treatment of these wrinkles often includes anti-wrinkle injections which involves the use of a purified protein produced by a type of bacterium. A minimal amount of the protein is injected into selected muscles, temporarily reducing the contractions that cause the permanent frown lines.

Usually, the procedure takes ten to twenty minutes to carry out and the discomfort is minimal as very fine needles are used. Also, no recovery time is involved and the results are noticed within 3 – 4 days.

The skin around the treated area will look smoother and less wrinkled. The upper third of the face is where the best results are obtained; the crow’s feet (around the eyes), the wrinkles and the frown lines between the brows and on the forehead. Due to the results of the treatment, many patients report that they are feeling more relaxed as frowning reduces.
